Associate Professor Hao CHEN and Associate Professor Qingqing WU from Shanghai Jiao Tong University have been selected for the MIT Technology Review Innovators Under 35 Asia Pacific 2025 list. This prestigious recognition highlights the global impact of their pioneering research in renewable energy and next-generation communications.

Hao CHEN, Associate Professor at the Global Institute of Future Technology, SJTU, is recognized for solving critical challenges in perovskite photovoltaic devices through innovative interface and compositional engineering. His research has led to multiple world-record efficiencies in both single-junction and tandem perovskite solar cells, contributing to global sustainable energy solutions.

Qingqing WU, Associate Professor at the School of Integrated Circuits, is honored for pioneering Intelligent Reflecting Surface (IRS) communication technology. His work addresses the coverage, cost, and energy consumption challenges in 6G networks by transforming the wireless environment from passive to intelligent and controllable. His research has established fundamental theorems of IRS communications and provided a feasible pathway toward low-cost, energy-efficient, and wide-coverage next-generation networks.

Launched in 1999, MIT Technology Review’s “Innovators Under 35” has become one of the most globally influential recognitions for outstanding young innovators in science, technology, and industry. The Asia Pacific edition, established in 2014, continues to spotlight rising leaders who are shaping the future of technology and innovation across the region.

The inclusion of Professors Chen and Wu reflects SJTU’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and driving global scientific and technological innovation.
